SJ Recorders

We are delighted to be forming an SJ recorder ensemble next year! Rehearsals will take place:

Saturday afternoons:  4:00 - 6:15pm– 3 times a term which includes a mid and end of year concert. 2020 dates can be found here 

Rehearsal venue: Homebush West Public School- adjacent to Flemington train station.

At this stage we anticipate forming 2 ensembles: an Advanced Ensemble and an Intermediate Ensemble, subject to enrolments. Staff will include Hans Dieter, Susan, Alicia and Dan. There will be further exciting performance opportunities which students may opt in to. 

Membership Fees

Affiliated Schools

In 2020 our affiliated schools are: Concord High, Strathfield Girls High, Homebush Boys High, Strathfield South High, Burwood Public, Homebush West Public, Concord West Public, Marie Bashir Public, Victoria Avenue and Strathfield South Public Schools. Affiliated schools contribute staff and funds to the ensemble and therefore membership fees for their students are a little less than for students from non-affiliated schools.

We are so excited to form the ensembles, and meet regularly to explore advanced recorder repertoire.  This initiative will be particularly vital for year 6 recorder players who, very often, move to High Schools without a recorder program.

Donations

We need your generous donations, large or small, to help spread the gift of music-making into Western NSW. In particular, we need donors to fund gift orchestral places for students from disadvantaged communities who otherwise wouldn’t be able to participate. 

• $40 will gift an SJ t-shirt to a student in need
• $75 will allow us to purchase a music stand for SJ Outback
• $100 will help us purchase a percussion instrument for SJ Outback
• $150 will provide the gift of orchestral membership (SJ or SJO) to a student from a disadvantaged background (donors may nominate students in their community if appropriate)

Your generous donations will help us fund our new orchestra from its very beginning. Help us bring the gift of music-making to rural students and their communities in need.
